What Is the Definition of Soft Landscaping?
If you are looking for landscaping that has no hard elements, then you need to consider a soft landscape; if you wish to know more about what this entails, please continue to read this post of Herrera Landscaping.
A soft landscape is a process of designing elements in a landscape that does not involve any construction. These elements can range from flowers, trees, and shrubs, in addition to potted plants, container gardens, and hanging baskets. Changing the soft elements of a landscape is a simple and easy way to change the whole look of the exterior of your home, especially when using methods like choosing different annual and perennial flowers for your gardens and flower beds
Planning, however, a soft landscape does mean undertaking a long-term endeavor. Shade trees and conifers will take years or even decades to reach their maturity, just as it can take years for shrubs to mature. Elements such as these do need some forward planning, as they will form the backdrop of your landscape for years to come.
Other parts of a landscape can be changed each year easily. Annual flowers can be replaced each season, for example, you can replace purple and yellow dahlias with a wash of red, white, and blue garden verbenas, that can change the atmosphere and feel of your landscape without dealing with any construction. The only limit will be what your soil can support.
Container gardens are also considered a part of soft landscaping. Flowers such as geraniums are regularly used in hanging baskets, and as they are only suitable for a single season. Some small ornamental trees can be placed in containers, and rearranging these to frame entryways or patios will offer your landscape a different look and feel.
